The Atlanta Mercantile

In April, 2008 we opened a Mercantile in a historic building on Main Street. We invite all artisans to consider the Mercantile as an outlet for their work. Our vision is a store chock full of goods and wares from Hamilton County, the State of Indiana, and certainly beyond. We are seeking fine art, fiber art, paper, ceramic, glass, wood, clay, metal, and any other items that are handmade and original. Consignment rates are 20% for Hamilton County artisans; 30% for out of county artisans.

The Atlanta Mercantile is committed to maintaining a high standard of quality; therefore, items will be juried. Antiques may be accepted as well as food items that are produced in a certified kitchen with the legally appropriate labels. We will review the items by photo via e-mail, mail, or by appointment.

The Mercantile is working in partnership with the Town of Atlanta, the Hamilton County Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Indiana Transportation Museum to schedule special events and promote the Mercantile. Regular hours will initially be Wednesday evenings to coordinate with the Atlanta Music Hall, and Thursday through Sunday. It will also be open for special events including the Earth Festival, train excursions, and group appointments.

Atlanta Indiana’s legacy as a thriving railroad community provides a rich history of growth and prosperity. The Atlanta Women’s League enhances the quality of life through effective action to revitalize the community and initiate programs and services offering enrichment to the citizens of Atlanta.
